WordPress auto update problem

I had trouble auto updating WordPress and once figured it out and did it successfully but I couldn’t remember how I did it the last time. Well I’m happy to have it figured out and want to document it here. I was having trouble when auto updating, when I initiated the update I received an error message indicating that WordPress couldn’t update or create files and folders. I rediscovered that if I deactivate the plugins “AskApache Password Protect” and “WP Security Scan” the auto update went flawlessly and after that I simply reactivated the plugins and all was good. Here’s to hoping this helps someone and reminds me for the next time.

Why I didn’t accept God in to my heart until now.

The side of myself I thought was good and true was actually Satan telling me what to do. I made excuses to myself why I shouldn’t go to church, I made judgments of people (I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak, for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” Matthew 12:36-37, I told myself I was better because I was doing what I thought was right. All along I needed to let God and Jesus in to my heart and live by the words they have gave all of us in the Bible (“If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe with your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9). I received God in to my heart and after that I had someone to ask for forgiveness and knew there was always someone who would love me (“God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.” Ephesians 2:4-5). If your ever lonely and feel the world doesn’t like you, pray to God and Jesus and ask to be forgiven of your sins. Jesus died on the cross for our sins so that we can ask for forgiveness and one day join them and our loved ones in Heaven (“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life . John 3:16). I was saved on October 24th, 2010 at the age of 39 and from now on I know where I’ll go, do you know where you are going?

RIP Pitchman Billy Mays

I’d just like to take a moment and say goodbye to Billy Mays and the other celebs we have lost in this past week. Billy Mays, Farrah Fawcett, Michael Jackson, and Ed McMahon goodbye. You all will be remembered for your contribution to our lives.

Speeding up icon loading in windows explorer.

Increase the icon speed in Windows Explorer
Make icons in windows explorer appear quicker

In Windows XP every time you open My Computer or Windows Explorer to browse folders and files XP automatically searches for network files and printers. This causes a delay in displaying your icons. You probably see the “default” windows icon and as you scroll it changes to the correct icon. This is how to stop that…

1. Open My Computer
2. Click on the Tools menu and select Folder Options…
3. Under Folder Options select the view tab.
4. Uncheck the very first box that reads “Automatically search for network folders and printers”.
5. Click “Apply” or “OK”

I’m a doctor not a….

Here is a useless fact for you. If you have ever watched Star Trek, you know the original with William Shatner, chances are you’ve heard Deforest Kelly (Dr. McCoy) say “I’m a doctor, not a Coal Miner”. Or instead of Coal Miner he may say a “Brick Layer”. So here is my compilation as I remember them or I am reminded after watching one of the many reruns of the cult fan favorite science fiction show.

I’m a doctor, not a…

Bricklayer (TOS – Devil In The Dark)
Coal Miner (TOS – The Empath)
Database (Voyager – Episode ?)
Engineer (TOS – Mirror,Mirror)
Escalator (TOS – Friday’s Child)
Mechanic (TOS – The Doomsday Machine)
Peeping Tom (Voyager  – Drone)
Performer (Voyager – Investigations)
Voyeur (Voyager – Parturition)
Watchmaker (Star Trek:New Voyages – To Serve All My Days)
Zookeeper (Voyager – Life Line)

If you know of a episode that Bones has one of his famous quotes let me know and I’ll add it.
